Deer Park Fashion Students Create Healing Pillows for Cancer Patients

Thoughtful students in Rita Murphy’s fashion portfolio class at Deer Park High School recently created “healing pillows” for cancer patients. More than 150 handmade pillows were completed, to be delivered to cancer patients at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The idea for the healing pillows came from members of the school’s Students Against Destructive Decisions club. “The students enjoyed creating them, knowing that they will be put to good use,” said teacher and SADD club adviser Janet Werner.
