Project Trio Returning to Deer Park for April 24 Concert with Students

Project Trio will return to the Deer Park School District to collaborate with students and teachers for the seventh year in a row, to be followed by an evening concert at the high school on Thursday, April 24.

Rooted in classical, the genre-defying Brooklyn-based trio fuses jazz, hip-hop, and world music into a dynamic blend that has evolved a new form of chamber music. The Wall Street Journal has praised the three musicians – flutist Greg Pattillo, double bassist Peter Seymour and cellist Eric Stephenson – for their “wide appeal, subversive humor and first-rate playing.” Highlights of this year’s season for the Trio include engagements with the San Diego, Toronto, Kansas City, Lafayette and New World symphony orchestras, and continued status as Family Artists in Residence with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. They made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2010, and last year completed a landmark tour of the former Soviet Union sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Their recent albums debuted at the top of Billboard’s classical and jazz charts. Through YouTube videos and appearances on popular TV shows on Nickelodeon and MTV, Project Trio have garnered significant attention from school-age musicians.

During the day on April 24, the group will work with Deer Park’s young musicians, beginning with the high school band and the middle school’s sixth-grade band. Following lunch, Project Trio’s educational program will continue with the middle school jazz band.
