Robert Frost Eighth-Graders Anticipate High School at Moving Up Ceremony

Friends and family filled the gymnasium at Deer Park’s Robert Frost Middle School as its Class of 2014 moved up and onward to high school in a recent ceremony filled with pride and excitement for the future.

National Junior Honor Society President Celine Marino led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Student Council President Lynne Gbadamosi addressed her classmates. “The life lessons we’ve learned and skills we’ve acquired made it all worth it,” she said. “No matter what you become in life, perfect it, because nobody can take your dreams away from you.”

“Everyone is good at something, and everyone has something to contribute to this world,” Principal Eliana Levey said in her moving up address. She encouraged her 345 outgoing eighth-graders to continue to do what is right instead of what is popular, and to not allow others to put them down. As she wiped away tears, she told the students, “It’s time to take all you have learned at Frost and apply it at the high school. Don’t wait for life to happen to you – go out and make life happen.”

Superintendent of Schools Eva J. Demyen and members of the Deer Park Board of Education were on hand to present various student awards and graduation certificates to the future members of the Deer Park High School Class of 2018.
