Four Babylon Eagle Scouts Honored by Legis. Horsley
Four Boy Scouts from Babylon Village were recently promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout and honored by Deputy Presiding Officer Legislator Wayne Horsley. Thomas Guarino, Jake Kohler, Zachary Russo and Raymond Schein from Troop 104 were presented with proclamations at their recent Court of Honor by Horsley. Although many Scouts begin the difficult journey which leads them to the pinnacle of their scouting careers, only a small percentage actually achieves their goal and receives the prestigious Eagle Scout Award.
Deer Park School Helps Give Back to Make-A-Wish
Staff and students at JFK Intermediate School recently lent a helping hand to a young boy who wanted to give back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. John Ginatotti, whose mother, Angela, teaches at the school, was granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and decided that he wanted to help out the organization in return by hosting a toy drive.
Applebee's Staff Don Denim to Raise Funds for Sandy Victims
Before the holidays employees at Applebee’s Long Island restaurants put on their blue jeans in order to raise money for the American Red Cross and, in turn, Hurricane Sandy victims. The week-long “Blue Jeans for Red Cross” program in December encouraged workers to wear jeans to work each day for a $1 donation to the ARC and its efforts to assist the victims of Sandy.
Half Hollow Hills Students Win Suffolk County Math Tournament
Two Half Hollow Hills students, Rinni Bhandali and Kris Pang were recently named individual winners at the 12th Annual Suffolk County Math Tournament coordinated by the Suffolk County Math Teachers Association.
West Islip Wins East End Field Hockey Championship
The West Islip High School field hockey team are champions at East End Field Hockey for the second straight year.The defending champs defeated Baport/Blue Point, who came into the game with an identical 5-1 season record. West Islip pulled through with a final score of 6-2.
