Library Votes, Trustee Elections Tuesday

Residents in both hamlets can cast their votes for the 2013-2014 library budget and board of trustees.

Residents in Deer Park and North Babylon can head to their local libraries Tuesday to vote on the proposed 2013-2014 budgets and Board of Trustees elections.

The Deer Park patrons will cast their vote on a proposed budget totaling $3,243,787, which represents a one percent increase from last year's spending plan.

Information on candidates running for a spot on the Board of Trustees was not immediately available Monday. A Deer Park Library representative said a complete rundown of the budget is available to residents at the Circulation Desk and Reference Desk.

Voting will take place in Deer Park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The North Babylon Library Board of Trustees has put forth a $2,984,189 proposed budget, which is a two percent increase over the current year. If passed, the budget increase would cost a taxpayer with a home assessed at $3,500 approximately 79 cents per month, or $9.44 for the year.

Donald E. Weimer is a current trustee of the library board, and is running uncontested for re-election to a five-year term.

North Babylon residents can cast their ballots from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Meeting Room.
