Firefighters Roll to Scaredy-Cat's Rescue

The Dix Hills Fire Department came to the rescue of a cat stuck about 40 feet up a tree on Branwood Drive Wednesday.

The drama began when a dog came into the house and scared the four-month-old cat that fled outside and up into the tree.

Unable to coax the cat down, the family called the Dix Hills Fire Department for assistance.

Old Village Hall Relocation Process Begins

The excavation process for the relocation of the Old Village Hall began in Lindenhurst recently, as the nearly 100 year old building is prepped for a move roughly four streets away.

The former village hall, currently located at 215 South Wellwood Avenue, has been used as a village hall, police station and, most recently, a museum, but the building will take on a new role once again as workers began prepping it for the move last week – historical park building.
