DPA Takes a Beating in Heat Wave

Scorching temperatures cause the road to buckle Monday afternoon.

Deer Park Avenue is cracking under extreme heat today.

Our friends at Buff N Stuff caught this shot of the road buckling at the crosstreet of Shade Street in North Babylon and posted it on Facebook.

The gap is about an inch and a half wide.

Today marks the start of this year's third heat wave as temperatures soar up to 90 degrees with high humidity in Deer Park and North Babylon.

More hot weather is expected tomorrow with predicted temperatures between 90 and 92, and Wednesday around 90. The heat will break late Wednesday afternoon as a cold front pushes through the area and brings temperatures of around 82-84 as a high on Thursday.

Motorists are encouraged to take precautions while driving, as more roads may be buckling in the heat.
