The Town of Babylon will honor those who made their way into the flooded portions of our area in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy with a ceremony at Tanner Park this Saturday.
The town will host an appreciation barbecue and awards ceremony to "recognize the heroic efforts of the Town’s first responders and volunteer organizations," said a town spokesman in a statement.
Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer will be on hand to help unveil a ceremonial plaque dedicated to the area's heroes and volunteers for their hard work and tireless efforts in the wake of the storm last October.
According to a town release, over 100 local and out-of-state police officers, firefighters, public utility providers, emergency medical responders and non-profit representatives will be on hand for the ceremony.
The ceremony will take place at The Pavilion at Tanner Park in Copiague on Saturday, October 26. The event will get underway at 12 p.m.
