Carlos Santana Headlines Coltrane House Fundraiser

Group led by Deer Park businessman continues to raise funds in an effort to restore the Candlewood Path home.

Guitar master Carlos Santana and jazz lovers gathered Sunday to raise funds to restore the Dix Hills home of the John and Alice Coltrane.

Fans of the jazz legend hope to raise $85,000 to restore the house on Candlewood Path. Ravi Coltrane, Santana, Elvis Costello and many others held the benefit at En Japanese Brasserie in Manhattan.

Coltrane's greatest work, A Love Supreme, was written in the Dix Hills house. He died in 1967.

The Friends of the Coltrane Home is led by Steve Fulgoni, who owns a music instrument business in Deer Park. 

According to this New York Times story, a Deer Park pharmacy used to deliver medicine to the Coltrane family in Dix Hills.
