Denny's Eyeing Former Continental Diner Site

Town officials say Denny's has expressed interest in opening a restaurant in North Babylon.

A Grand Slam breakfast in North Babylon?

That might be a reality soon as Denny's restaurant has set its sights on the former Continental Diner location on Deer Park Avenue.

"We can confirm that Denny’s restaurant has visited the planning department expressing interest in this site," a Babylon Town spokesman told Patch. "They were told that the first step is to submit a “Bar-Restaurant” application to authorize that use at that site."

Denny's has not yet submitted that application following its visit to Town Hall last week, the spokesman said.

The Continental Diner closed over the summer at the potential Denny's site located at 1143 Deer Park Avenue, just north of the Southern State Parkway.

There are currently three Denny's restaurants on Long Island–in Centereach, Levittown and Carle Place. They are traditionally open 24/7.

A Denny's spokesman declined to comment on a possible North Babylon restaurant.
