Sunoco Replaces Citgo on Deer Park Avenue

The owners of the gas station on the corner of Deer Park Avenue and Nicolls Road have agreed to take on the Sunoco brand name after the gas provider said it would pay for improvements at the business.

Kevin Joyce, who owns what had been Deer Hills Citgo, said Sunoco was paying for upgrades, including LED lighting at the pumps, which would save him thousands of dollars.

"We are still here, we didn't leave, it's just a new name," said Joyce of what is now Deer Hills Sunoco. "People have been asking us that, so it's good to get that message out. We aren't going anywhere."

Joyce's business is the second to drop Citgo on Deer Park Avenue in the past two months. The gas station on the corner of Grand Boulevard took on the Xtra Fuels name and is under new management.
