200+ N. Babylon Homes in the Dark Ahead of Blizzard

Over 200 homes lost power in the North Babylon area hours after the first flakes fell.

Over 200 LIPA customers in North Babylon are without power only a few hours after precipiation started falling from the anticipated blizzard.

According to LIPA's Storm Center website, an estimated 223 customers or homes were without power at of 9:20 a.m. The website put an estimated 12:30 p.m. repair and restoration time on those customers affected.

The homes in North Babylon were among the first on Long Island to face an outages in the wake of the nor'easter. LIPA's website already showed over 400 homes islande-wide without power as of 9:20 a.m.

LIPA, which faced heavy criticism in the wake of Hurricane Sandy in October, gave National Grid control of its systems to handle storm response, noting the gas utility was "best equiped."
