Deer Park Public Library Budget Passes

Voters approved the library's $3.2 million budget for 2013-14.

Voters approved a $3.2 million budget on Tuesday, April 2 for the Deer Park Public Library.

Residents passed the 2013-2014 budget by a vote of 129 to 29. It will take effect for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013.

The budget came in at a total of $3,243,787, yielding a one percent increase from last year's spending plan.

A special note thanking patrons for their support was posted on the library's website Tuesday night.

The funds will allow the library to continue its current programs and offerings, including children's programs, DVDs, CDs, study space and of course, books.

Incumbent Secretary John Gagliano ran unopposed and was re-elected to the library's Board of Trustees.

The results of North Babylon Public Library's budget vote and trustee election were not available as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Patch will post the information as it becomes available.
