Dusting of Snow Expected Overnight in Deer Park, N. Babylon

A weak Alberta Clipper will pass over Long Island, leaving most locales with less than an inch of powder.

Get out the brooms, not the shovels–snow showers will leave us with a fresh coating of snow for the Tuesday morning commute.

A weak low-pressure storm will push across Long Island overnight Monday and throughout the day Tuesday, leaving behind less than an inch of fresh snow and most likely causing delays on the roads for the Tuesday morning commute.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 50-50 chance at all points across Long Island seeing snow from late Monday night through Tuesday evening. The snow should end before late Wednesday morning, accumulating anywhere between 0.25 to 0.75 inches.

Winds will remain light enough to keep snow from becoming too much of a vision hazard, however temperatures will hover around freezing throughout the event. Light, powdery snow like this often creates very slick and icy roadways, so motorists should take precautions, even on busy highways that appear to simply be wet.

The National Weather Service has not issued any advisories or warnings associated with this event.
