N. Babylon Woman Dies From Injuries After House Explosion

Patricia Salegna-Maqueda died Tuesday night at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

A North Babylon woman who was seriously injured in a house explosion in Brentwood last week, died Tuesday at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Suffolk County Police said.

a State Farm Insurance representative, was at the residence of 12 Prospect Drive in Brentwood regarding a claim submitted for flooding when the house exploded at 11:55 a.m. on Aug. 14.

Salegna-Maqueda, 46, was one of 17 people injured in the blast and had been in since admitted to the hospital last Tuesday for serious burns. She is the second person to have died from the explosion. The first was Rah-quan Palmer, an 18-month-old boy.

Investigators have not declared the cause of the blast, but police are eyeing two 200-pound propane that were installed outside of the home without a required permit as the source. Propane tanks larger than 20-pounds require a permit in the Town of Islip.
