Alive After Five is moving from Fridays to Thursdays this summer. Now in its 13th year, the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce's popular summer street fair and concert series on Main Street and Ocean Avenue is switching days in an attempt to quell some of the rowdiness that has sometimes plagued the event on Fridays in the past.

Medford
A Medford woman pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend. Under a plea deal, a judge promised to sentence Cynthia Dean to 8 years in prison, according to a Newsday report.

Realty television star Teresa Giudice dropped in at the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group's Babylon Grand Opening celebration at Monsoon on Monday night. The star of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" was greeted by a never-ending line of fans seeking to say hi and take a photograph with her.

West Islip
An organized ring of 15 Long Island Rail Road employees and two others were indicted after conspiring to steal more than $250,000 worth of copper wire belonging to the LIRR, according to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice. Among those arrested was Kevin Graham, 29, of West Islip.

Lindenhurst
The Lindenhurst and North Lindenhurst fire departments helped respond to a Copiague house fire that occured near the border of the Village at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire, at 298 28th Street in Copiague, ripped through much of the home, leaving the top floor mostly burned and the outside siding melted off of the house's structure.

For Sayville native Carolyn Ruggiero the Sayville Relay for Life event is more than just a good cause that raises funds to help save lives from cancer. It’s a way to remember two very dear family members, her grandfather Giovanni Ruggiero who passed 20 years ago from prostate cancer and grandmother Nancy Picchiello who over three years ago from ovarian cancer.
