UPDATE: Power Restored In N. Babylon

As of 4 p.m. LIPA map showing all areas with power

UPDATE: At 4 p.m., the Long Island Power Authority Map indicated that power has been restored to the 160 LIPA customers impacted by Wednesday's outage.

The Long Island Power Authority is reporting that 160 customers in North Babylon are without power with a return to service estimated at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to LIPA’s Power Outage map, the area impacted is north of Southern State Parkway between Route 231 and Belmont Lake State Park. The outage impacts only a small portion of the more than 8,000 LIPA customers in North Babylon.

There were no outages reported for Deer Park.

Elizabeth Flagler, a LIPA spokesperson, said the outage was the result of a burned out primary wire in the area. At 3 p.m. Wednesday, she said a LIPA crew was on scene and expected power to return within the hour.

Temperatures on Wednesday and through the remainder of the week are expected to reach into the low to mid 90s as the summer season officially begins.
