Power Out in Parts of Deer Park, North Babylon

LIPA reports that service expected to be restored Friday night.

UPDATE: As of 8 p.m. LIPA was reporting less than five outages in Deer Park and 18 outages in North Babylon.

A line of severe thunderstorms that moved through Deer Park and North Babylon Friday afternoon has knocked out power to several hundred local Long Island Power Authority customers.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, LIPA was reporting that 308 of its 11,300 customers in Deer Park are without power. The outages are in a section of western Deer Park west of Route 231 and north of Grand Blvd. near the Long Island Railroad tracks

According to the utility’s Power Outage section of its website, estimated restoration of service is 9:30 p.m. Friday.

In North Babylon, LIPA was reporting that 165 of its 8,063 customers are without power. Most of the outages are in an area just north of Southern State Parkway and just east of Route 231.

Power is expected to be restored at around 9 p.m. Friday, according to LIPA.
