Much of the area now has electricity, but a nor'easter is now threatening it.

Power outages are down significantly in Deer Park and North Babylon.

As of Wednesday morning, 92 percent of Deer Park residents have their electricity back. In North Babylon, 93 percent of all power is restored.

While almost all residents now have their power back, they may want to hold off on doing the electric slide in celebration now that a nor'easter is headed for Long Island.

"Customers should expect that this storm could cause additional damage in our area, resulting in additional power outages. LIPA is preparing its operations to respond to the potential impact of this storm, and will continue to deploy its significant workforce to address any additional power outages," Long Island Power Authority officials said in a statement.

This comes nine days after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the region, flooding South Shore communities and knocking out power to more than 900,000 customers. LIPA reports 86,197 outages remain in Nassau and 70,360 more in Suffolk.
