Over 1,000 Power Outages in Deer Park

First wave of afternoon thunderstorms knocks out power to over 1,000 customers in Deer Park.

The Long Island Power Authority is reporting over 1,000 outages in Deer Park following a severe thunderstorm that rolled through the area around noon.

1,074 customers were without power in Deer Park as of 1:45 p.m., according to the LIPA power outages website. Service is not expected to return until at least 6:30 p.m.

Over 6,000 outages are being reported Island-wide by LIPA. Deer Park's 1,000 customers accounts for nearly nine percent of the village's electrical customers.
