Tuesday's Events: What's Happening Locally

School budget vote in Deer Park and North Babylon is the big event today.

Tuesday will be a busy day around Deer Park and North Babylon and an important one for local school districts. Voters head to the polls today to cast their ballots on the proposed school budgets for the 2012-13 school year.

Deer Park School District residents can vote at the high school between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. In North Babylon, school district residents there will also vote between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in one of four locations; Marion G. Vedder Elementary School (District 1), Parliament Place Elementary School (District 2), Woods Road Elementary School (District 3) and Belmont Elementary School (District 4).

Beyond the school budget vote, will host the Secondary Science & Technology Fair and Art Show. The festivities begin at 6 p.m.

At the , Salsa n’ Stories will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Designed for children in grades one to three, youngsters can listen to south of the border stories while sampling tasty salsa. Sounds yummy!

Tonight in Melville, a Prostate Cancer Support Group will be held at 523 Broadhollow Road, Ste. 142A. The guest speaker is Theodore Felderman, MD. The group is free to all.
