Last Thursday, the North Babylon Board of Education that exceeds the state mandated tax levy cap.
With the school district’s cap set at 2.14 percent, the board of education is now asking voters to approve a spending plan for the 2012-13 school year that has a 2.59 percent tax levy increase.
By law, school districts are able to pierce the tax levy cap if it obtains a “supermajority” vote of at least 60 percent.
