New York State Troopers pulled a driver over on Wednesday, June 27 for allegedly operating his vehicle while on a portable electronic device, when they said they discovered a large amount of marijuana in his possession.
According to police, troopers observed Darnee M. Jones operating a 2003 BMW on the Southern State Parkway westbound while using a portable electronic device.
He was pulled over west of Exit 37 in North Babylon. Subsequent investigation revealed Jones to possess approximately 35 grams of marihuana and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to Suffolk Precininct in Brentwood where he was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device, a traffic infraction.
