Cops: Officer Shot Man Who Was Threatening Father

An officer-involved shooting at an apartment complex in Deer Park has left one man injured, Suffolk County police said.

According to cops, the shooting took place at Babylon Park Center after they received a 10:25 a.m. call of a domestic dispute at the residence on Parkcenter Drive. When they arrived, they found a father and son in a heated argument. The father claimed his 40-year-old son was threatening to cut off his head, a Suffolk police spokeswoman said. According to the father, the son suffered from psychiatric issues and may have stopped taking his medicine.

Police confirm that an officer shot the son in the chest. Officials could not confirm if the son was brandishing a weapon, but said the investigation is still ongoing.
