Deer Park FD Collects More than 700 Bags of Clothing

Volunteer firefighter distribute donations to Hurricane Sandy victims here and in Breezy Point.

The Deer Park Fire Department collected 726 bags and boxes of clothing Saturday during a donation drive for those who lost everything in Hurricane Sandy.

Local residents responded in droves to help the victims.

Under the direction of Chief John Giammarino, and Commissioners Andrew Duguid and Anthony Macaluso, volunteer firefighters distributed the clothing to Breezy Point in Queens, where more than 80 flooded homes burned as a fire jumped from house-to-house as rising water levels kept fire fighters from being able to get through.
