A Lindenhurst woman who struck three teenagers in Deer Park while driving under the influence of drugs was sentenced to a year in jail on Tuesday, according to a Newsday report.
Cathleen T. Wild, 30, pleaded guilty to felony charges of vehicular assault and assault, as well as misdemeanor charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, possession of a hypodermic instrument and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Wild will be on probation for five years once she is released from jail and be tested for drugs and alcohol during that period. Newsday reported that Wild will be sent to prison for 2 to 6 years if she violates parole.
According to police, Wild was traveling in her 1997 GMC Jimmy westbound on Grand Boulevard on Aug. 7, 2011 as three 16-year-olds crossed the road at West Sixth Street at approximately 11:45 p.m.
The three teens–Thomas Pirrone, Gabrielle Ferraro and Paulino Harrington–all from Deer Park, were struck by Wild's vehicle. All three spoke at Wild's sentencing, Newsday reported.
