Police Arrest Motorcyclist Who Fled N. Babylon Crash

Deer Park faces several charges stemming from Thursday crash on Deer Park Avenue.

The motorcyclist who fled the scene of Thursday's four-vehicle crash in North Babylon was arrested on Friday and faces multiple charges.

Kenneth Jones Jr., 19, is charged with two felonies–leaving the scene of an incident without reporting serious physical injury and third degree criminal possession of stolen property. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Jones, of Deer Park, will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

The crash on Deer Park Avenue Thursday afternoon involved an SUV and three motorcycles. The motorcyclist who initially rear-ended the SUV, Travis Lovett, of Brentwood, was in critical condition after the crash, but police told Patch Friday night that Lovett, 20, is expected to survive.

A Babylon woman and her granddaughter in the SUV were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Another motorcyclist involved in the crash, Stanley Severe, 22, of Deer Park, did not receive medical treatment. Severe remained on the scene after the accident and spoke with police.
