Police: Deer Park Teen Shot While Walking With Friends

Joshua Rosenberg, 16, was shot in the arm on Scott Avenue just after midnight Sunday.

A Deer Park teen is recovering in the hospital after being shot early Sunday morning while he walking with his friends, police said. 

Joshua Rosenberg, 16, was walking on Scott Avenue near Tell Avenue just after midnight when he and three of his male friends–ages 18 to 20–heard several gunshots nearby, police said. 

As the group began to run away, Rosenberg realized that he had been shot in the arm, police said.

Rosenberg was transported by Deer Park Fire Department Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he is in stable condition, police said.

Police did not specify from where the gunshots may have been fired. No arrests have been made. 

The investigation is continuing. First Squad detectives are asking anyone with any information about the shooting to contact them at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
