A Suffolk County police officer suffered minor injuries after a drunken driver crashed into the back of the cop's car while the officer was conducting a traffic stop Friday night in West Babylon, police said.
The First Precinct patrol officer was in the middle of a traffic stop at Little East Neck Road and America Avenue shortly before midnight when a 2004 Lincoln Aviator headed northbound on Little East Neck Road struck the rear of the officer's vehicle, police said.
The officer, who was not identified, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated for minor injuries. The female driver of the vehicle the officer had pulled over was also taken to Good Samaritan for observation, police said.
The driver of the Lincoln, Jose Hernandez, 34, of Wyandanch, was arrested and charged with DWI. He was due to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Saturday.
