Police: Man Robs Deer Park Business, Breaks Into Business Owner's Home

Police say two men robbed a Deer Park business and a week later, one of them forced their way into the business owner's home.

Suffolk Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man who robbed a Deer Park business last month and then burglarized the business owner's home a week later.

Police said the owner of the business, which was not identified, was approached by two men who assaulted him and stole cash and his driver’s license on Dec. 12 around 8:30 p.m.

"The men threatened the owner by telling him they would come back to the business or his home," police said in a crime alert released Wednesday.

Nine days later, police say, one of the men forced their way into the North Bay Shore home of the business owner and demanded the occupants tell them the whereabouts of the business owner.

A briefcase containing cash and business records was stolen from the home, police said.
