Safety Alert: Man Invites Deer Park Student Into Car at Bus Stop

A Deer Park elementary school student waiting at a bus stop Monday was approached by an unknown man who invited the boy into his car, according to an alert posted on the Deer Park School District's website. 

The JFK Intermediate School student was approached by the man, described as heavyset and bald with a light tan complexion, at the corner of Westview Avenue and W. 12th Street.

The man was driving a four-door silver car with blackened windows. Police were notified of the incident. 

"Please take this opportunity to advise your children of the danger in talking to or getting near the cars of strangers," the school district's alert reads. "Always contact the police department to report any unusual attempt at contact with your children by strangers."
