An Elmont man is recovering from a bullet wound after he was shot early Wednesday morning in North Babylon.
According to Suffolk County Police, Shawn Smith, 26, of Warwick Road, was shot around 2:45 a.m. outside of a home on Weeks Road. The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries in the buttocks and the lower back.
Residents in the area said that police were searching neighbors' backyards on foot soon after the shooting. Police also conducted a search by helicopter to find the perpetrator. Police are continuing their investigation.
