Two Deer Park Homes Damaged in Fire

Fire Friday evening on W. 20th Street draws a response from multiple fire departments.

Several fire departments responded to the scene of a blaze in Deer Park on Friday evening.

The fire appears to have started inside the garage of a home at 150 W. 20th Street and then spread to the north side of the home next door at 156 W. 20th Street.

The garage and much of the southern portion of the home at 150 W. 20th Street suffered extensive fire and smoke damage. LIPA and National Grid were called to the scene to cut service to the home.

The north-facing wall of the home at 156 W. 20th Street appeared to be heavily damaged, with siding melted off and windows blown out. Much of the rest of the home appeared untouched, however. LIPA appeared to cut service to that home as well.

The fire, which began around 4:45 p.m., destroyed an SUV inside the garage. All visible fire was knocked down in about a half hour.

According to EMS on the scene, there were no reported injuries at this time.

The Deer Park, North Babylon, Wyandanch and West Islip fire departments all responded to the blaze.
