D'Amaro Defeats Martin for Legislature Seat

Democrat holds onto seat in 17th Legislative District.

Democrat Lou D'Amaro was re-elected to a fifth term in the Suffolk County Legislature Tuesday. 

D'Amaro led Republican Jim Martin by a margin of 6,051-3,737 in the 17th Legislative District with 68 of 69 election districts reporting. 

D'Amaro, of North Babylon, took office in took office in 2006, and serves as chairman of the legislature's Ways and Means Committee, among other roles. 

The 17th Legislative District includes parts of Huntington, Huntington Station, South Huntington, Melville, Dix Hills, Deer Park and North Babylon.
