Legislator Lou D'Amaro (D–Huntington Station) has been appointed to serve as the Suffolk County Legislator's Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee.
D'Amaro, serving his fourth term in office, was named by Presiding Officer William Lindsay to the position, which helps oversee the day-to-day operations of the county government and is responisble for implementing and enforcing all of the county's laws.
Lindsay also named D'Amaro to serve as a Vice Chairman of both the Parks & Recreation and Economic Development & Energy Committees.
“I am honored that Presiding Officer Lindsay has demonstrated his trust in me by appointing me Chair of the vital Ways & Means Committee and Vice Chair of two other very important committees,” said Legislator D’Amaro in a statement. “These assignments will enable me to continue focusing on my main priorities of protecting taxpayers and controlling the size of government."
He added: "I look forward to continuing to work cooperatively in a bi-partisan manner with my legislative colleagues, as well as with County Executive Steve Bellone, in the coming year."
D'Amaro has previouisly served as the Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee from 2006 to 2010.
