Schaffer, Fellow Democrats Re-Elected in Babylon

Democrats keep hold of power in Babylon Town.

Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer will win re-election Tuesday, easily defeating Republican Christopher Connors.

With more than 75 percent of districts reporting Schaffer, who also serves as the chairman of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee, leads Connors by a margin of 10,824-3,755.

Schaffer served five terms as supervisor from 1992 to 2001 and then took the reins at Town Hall once again in 2012 when Steve Bellone was elected county executive.

Democrat incumbents Tony Martinez and Lindsay Henry both ran unopposed for another four-year term on the Town Board.

Incumbent Town Clerk Carol Quick, also a Democrat, will defeat Republican William Barci. Quirk holds a 10,110-4,050 lead over Barci with more than 75 percent of districts reporting.
