Sen. Boyle Hosting STAR Re-Registration Next Week

Get tax exemptions for energy saving parts of your home – some homeowners save an average of $800 a year.

Get re-registered for the Basic STAR tax exemption program with a little bit of assistance from state Senator Phil Boyle.

The deadline for re-registering for the tax exemption program is December 31 and Senator Boyle's office reports roughly 175,000 Long Islanders who have not signed back up for the upcoming year.

Signing up can reportedly save the average homeowner up to $800 a year.

To help those who need more assistance signing back up for the program, Senator Boyle's office has set up two Re-Registration Days next week in Deer Park and Islip.

The first program will take place at Deer Park Public Library on Wednesday, December 18 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The second program will take place at Islip Public Library on Thursday, December 19 starting at 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Hopefully all that have not re-registered will do so before time runs out,” said Senator Boyle. “I want to give every opportunity for those that need help to re-register to get it by offering  the support of my staff.”
