Town Imposes Curfew South of Montauk Hwy

Vehicles and pedestrians prohibited in the area between dusk and dawn for five days.

A curfew is now imposed in the Town of Babylon in areas south of Montauk Highway.

Supervisor Rich Schaffer has declared an executive order barring drivers and pedestrians from roads south of Montauk Highway from Fleets Point Drive, West Babylon to East Shore Road, Lindenhurst and south of Montauk Highway from East Riviera Drive, Lindenhurst to Coolidge Avenue, Amity Harbor; starting Friday evening.

Only emergency vehicles and residents with proper identification will be allowed through.

The curfew will be in effect for the next five days, or until the town's State of Emergency no longer exists, whichever comes first, Schaffer said in his declaration.

Those who do not follow the order will be subject to police arrest.
