Town Provides Free At-Home Drug Tests to Parents

Initiative aimed at preventing teen drug use.

Drug and alcohol testing kits are now available to Town of Babylon parents, through a program known as "Test-- Don't Guess."

The free at-home kits include a urine drug test kit as well as alcohol detection swabs. They were purchased by the Suffolk County Sherriff’s Office using money seized from drug trades.

Supervisor Rich Schaffer said he hopes the tests will prevent drug use among teens.

“It’s important that parents communicate with their children, take an active role in their safety, and follow whatever steps they can to prevent drug use at a young age,” he said. He added that students may use the possibility of home drug tests as a tool to resist peer pressure.

For more information or to pick-up an at-home home drug test contact the Town of Babylon Youth Bureau at 631-422-7660 or visit them at the Town Hall Annex at 281 Phelps Lane in North Babylon.
