DeLuca Elementary Links Together to Fight Hunger

School collects 3,500 nonperishable items to help stock food pantry.

For the ninth year in a row, students and staff at North Babylon’s William E. DeLuca Jr. Elementary School recently helped stock the shelves at the Town of Babylon’s food pantry through a school-wide “Human Food Chain.”

Collecting 3,500 nonperishable items, the students worked with members of the Babylon Town Hall Annex, located in North Babylon, to bring the food to the building, as well assisted in organizing the shelves.

“We’re a bucket-filling school that encourages our students to perform kind deeds,” Principal Norann McManus said. “Today, we filled a lot of buckets!”
