No decisions have been made regarding make up days in either the Deer Park or North Babylon school districts.
Classes were back in session Wednesday, Nov. 7, after an unprecedented seven-day closure due to Hurricane Sandy.
"No decisions have been made regarding make-up days due to Hurricane Sandy. All districts are waiting for information and guidance from NY State Education Department. The North Babylon School Board of Education had requested information regarding available days for make-up of instructional days lost," North Babylon school officials announced on the district's newly created Facebook page.
"Please ignore the rumors," officials said.
By law, schools are required to be in session 180 days. Students will be out of class again as Thanksgiving and Winter Break approach.
Officials from the Deer Park School District said that the decision will likely be made at the next school board meeting on Nov. 20. North Babylon officials said that the district will be in contact with the community once a decision is made.
