North Babylon HS Hosts Sandy Recovery Dinner

Neighbors comes together for a post-storm dinner to support one another.

Students from North Babylon High School welcomed local residents to a buffet-style Storm Recovery Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 14 to support one another after the hurricane.

Organized by the Students for a Better World and Renaissance clubs, more than 175 North Babylon families gathered together as a community in the school cafeteria to share their stories.

“This dinner was an opportunity for us to reach out to the community that has been supportive of our schools,” said Students for a Better World advisor Veronica Murphy.

“I grew up in North Babylon, and tonight is a great night for us to show everyone involved what a fantastic community we live in,” added co-advisor Alyssa Imhof.

To organize the dinner, Murphy and Imhof received food donations from local businesses, parent organizations and each of the district’s seven school buildings.

“This has been a real community effort,” Imhof said.
