Robert Frost Middle Schoolers Collect Soaps for Seniors

The student council at Deer Park’s Robert Frost Middle School recently conducted its annual “Soaps for Seniors” project.

The giving-back effort involves the collection of shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotions and other hygiene products for the benefit of local senior citizens.

The members of the council packaged the toiletries and delivered them to seniors at two local nursing homes, Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center in West Islip and Sunrise Senior Living in Dix Hills, accompanied by festive musical performances from the Robert Frost Chamber Choir and a small ensemble comprised of players from the school’s chamber orchestra.

“Having the young students visit them is a bright spot in the day of these senior citizens,” said student council adviser Carole DiPietrantonio.
