Submit Letters to the Editor on N. Babylon School Budget

We want to hear your thoughts on proposed budget.

North Babylon residents will head back to the polls in two weeks to cast ballots on a proposed school budget.

The Board of Education has adopted the same $112 million proposal, which exceeds the state's tax cap, that was defeated on May 21 when it failed to be approved by a 60 percent supermajority of voters. If the budget fails again on June 18, the board will be forced to adopt a contingency budget with millions in cuts.

We have heard from many residents on our Facebook page and through comments on stories, but we want to offer readers a chance to submit formal letters to the editor regarding their thoughts on the budget proposal.

Do you agree with the decision by the board to put the same budget up for a revote or do you think the board should have made $625,000 in cuts to bring the budget within the tax cap thus requiring only a simple majority public vote to pass? Will you be voting yes or no on June 18 and why?

If you would like to submit a letter to the editor on the topic, please email it to ryan@patch.com and include a phone number so we can verify your identity.
