Voter's Guide: Deer Park, N. Babylon School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for Tuesday's school votes.

Deer Park

Deer Park residents will vote on the district’s $105.93 million proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday.

The proposal calls for a 2.18 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.63 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap. 

Five candidates are running for three seats on the Deer Park Board of Education. Incumbent Alfred Centamore is running unopposed. Jerry Jean-Pierre is challenging incumbent Donna Gulli Grunseich. Anthony Camodeo and Kristine Rosales are facing off for a one-year term for the seat Frank Wilkinson resigned from in February.

Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Deer Park High School. Find more information on the proposed budget on the district's website here

North Babylon 

North Babylon residents will vote on the district’s $113.65 million proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday.

The proposal calls for a 1.46 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.54 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap for the district. 

Five candidates are running for three seats on the North Babylon Board of Education. Incumbents Janet Meyerson and Barbara Ferguson are running unopposed. Jeffrey Myers, Bob Scheid and Robin Gallagher are running for the seat being vacated by Barbara Leun, who is not seeking re-election.

Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Belmont, Parliament Place Marion G. Vedder and Woods Road elementary schools. Find more information on the proposed budget on the district's website here
