I don't want anybody buying cigarettes. But there are a lot of addicts out there that can't stop.Read More Most of those addicts started smoking when they were under 21. By raising the age to 21 we increaae the odds for a lot of people who otherwise would start smoking.

I don't understand why there are no north-south routes out here like NY135/SOB expressway, with noRead More freakin' traffic lights every 100 feet. Take Route 51, which travels mostly through farmland, from Moriches to Riverhead and you will stop at lights, where there is one lone car making a turn. Huh? EXTEND!!!! They receive full medical coverage, lifetime jobs for some, insane pensions that the working man/woman could only dream of, yet they do not work a full year like the rest of us? hooterville native, I see you said you were "keeping an eye out" for the deer? Curious ?Read More is that the deer's eye or your eye?. As far as the deer go, bring back native American's to live in the area. When it was their land the deer were decimated. Its only since the state conservation efforts began that the population has exploded. Either that or let some bowhunters on your land during season that will harvest and use the animal instead of executing them and piling them in a fire.
Hooterville Native March 10, 2014 at 01:28 pm
David, We (my friends and neighbors) are keeping an eye out...for the deer with the eye out.. IRead More would love for bow hunters to use my land. I just don't own enough. I have 3-7 deer go through my backyard daily every morning and night I live across from a preserve and from what I understand the hunters didn't get any or never asked to hunt there. (I heard both stories) The other night while driving home with my daughter in 1/8 of a mile we had 12 deer jump out in front of the car and then another 2 closer to home. Earlier that same night I was in Orient and saw deer that looked like it was bedded down for the night , on the sidewalk. When I turned around to check it the poor thing got scared and tried to run away but on the upper parts of her legs because all 4 were broken. I did call the police to put her down.. What kind of a person hits a deer and doesn't turn around to check whether the animal is ok? it was obvious she couldn't get to far from where she was hit.

Isn't big Government great?? Here's one unrelated but very relative example for all you Idiots whoRead More support this stuff. I'm sure we'll have it here too. Washington State Lawmakers ludicrously claim a tax-per-mile is needed to offset the prevalence of fuel-efficient cars. The Transportation Commission says the motor fuel tax, which currently pays for 76% of transportation investments, is unsustainable “over the long term.” In a dizzying twist of logic, the Transportation Commission blames the prevalence of fuel-efficient cars as the reason the state now needs a per-mile tax, arguing that the move to cleaner, smarter vehicles must be accompanied by a change in the way we pay for our roads. According to the study, drivers could be charged three ways; either with a flat-fee, by having odometers checked, or with an electronic device installed in cars to measure how many miles are driven...Keep begging to be enslaved. It's working!

Re Skip: I love my government. Self-government is the best there is. The problem is we should haveRead More never needed the gas tax in the first place to fix the roads. Had the money not gone to the military, there would be no need for a gas tax, and then in turn, a per mile tax - due to the necessary advent of fuel efficient vehicles.
