Drama Club students at Deer Park’s Robert Frost Middle School performed with comedic verve in the school’s annual play, the Ancient Rome-themed “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Colosseum.”

"Emperor Caesar Obamus" That's funny. It's also easy. Now let's see schools start knockingRead More corporations as they should. Naw, schools only go after the weak, easy strawmen of their enslavement.

I can't believe this report is from THIS year, not last year. The good news is that this time, theRead More police found the real or fake bombs and detonated them. It's getting really hard to read or watch the news any more. I went out to dinner with some friends last night and we all agreed that it's very hard to digest the news these days. There's been a cumulative effect of one horror after another.
New York Patriot April 16, 2014 at 10:26 am
Liberals prefer to ignore/diminish state sovereignty. Why? Because states essentially must balanceRead More their budgets. Thus, Maggie Thatcher's point of "Socialism only works until you run out of other peoples money to spend" creates economic limits on the Liberal Socialist agenda. On the other hand, the Federal government demonstrates no restraint on running massive deficits to fund a limitless Liberal Socialist agenda. If you were a Liberal, where would you hitch your wagon? Of course, the bottomless Federal cookie jar!

This is one of the problems in our election process ... there is always someone or some group tryingRead More to corrupt the election process on both sides of the coin. There is something inherently fundamental that tells us all ,that an individual's vote should count and mean something, whether it's constitutional or not. If it doesn't matter..... why bother?

I was a limo coach bus driver and would be the driver for many proms and young teens birthday andRead More other parties. There were many times that parents would try to supply beer and tell me that the 'kids' could drink on the trip. When I would tell them NO, there would be no tip. Well, that is why some drivers turn a blind eye to this. To me no meant NO.
LB TAXPAYA April 16, 2014 at 10:17 am
Why are they going after the bus driver? How's about the parents? (who funded the event). TheRead More people that sold the alcohol? and the kids themselves? Also, the police (who I'm certain had a few (underage) beers in their day and still drink/drive today as well), should go after REAL CRIMINALS! This was a ground ball (easy arrest for them). The whole thing stinks to high heaven!

@Kim Johnson. Not that it matters, but you have your facts wrong. President Barack Obama nominatedRead More Leonhart for the position of DEA Administrator on 2/2/2010. The issue here is people should be able to shop at a store without being followed or have the NSA track each word I am typing.

David Klopman April 16, 2014 at 09:48 am
Andrew, What exactly does fighting or physical violence have to do with this? You are making excusesRead More for these teens. Yet another example of not teaching them responsibility for their actions.
Andrew Scott April 16, 2014 at 09:52 am
Klopman - Really? A charge of physical VIOLENCE should incur less than a third of the penalty ofRead More someone who has shown bad taste in clothing? I am so glad I am not your spawn. Pbug - Your interpretation of the flag is one of many. Unlike you, I have lived in the south.
pbug56 April 16, 2014 at 10:07 am
It's not about bad taste in clothing, it's about racism and hate. The flag once represented bothRead More hate and the honor of many southerners, but has long since been co-opted by the KKK and other hate groups. And racism is going full strength these days, and that flag, along with the nazi flag, is a huge symbol of that.

How broke are we you ask? Well we are 17trillion $ broke. Is that a lot of money? Well lets see. AllRead More single family homes combined in this country are worth about 16Trillion $. He did not have a "submachine gun", he had an ordinary pistol. (One way you can tell isRead More that there was no mention of an additional federal charge for illegally possessing one. Another way would be to Google Intertec 22, assuming you understand that a machine gun fires more than one round when you pull the trigger, and this one obviously does not.) This is just the media trying to hype up the story by inventing a machine gun where there was none. Isn't it a good enough story that some felon went nutcase with an illegally possessed stolen pistol?

Just an afterthought whats the death toll from heroin on Long Island this year?
A_M_O_V April 15, 2014 at 09:15 pm
The only thing Mr. Bellone and Mr. Spencer could be proud of is the pioneering aspect of this pieceRead More of legislation. Yes they are the first who sign a legislation that would become a detriment for generations, unless at some point and I hope sooner than later the law would be reversed and possibly incorporate age change for alcohol use to 18. It is about time that government officials will get advice from professionals. We are telling our kids not to drink alcohol and not to smoke at an age in which the urge to do the opposite is so high. The most difficult thing for the government to do is promote education that requires high caliber people with energy and sophistication. No one argues the danger in smoking and excessive drinking but when you make it illegal people would like it more. Focus on education and don’t spend valuable money on enforcing something that definitely won't do any good.

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

OK, let me take a wild guess here...This is Massachusetts so it shouldn't be that difficult toRead More figure it out. These two crack heads in their 40's are on SSI, claiming some phony disability and are living on SSI in a Section 8 apartment in a senior complex. Probably a good guess right? They put senior citizens in grave danger and will probably get a slap on the wrist and sent right back to live in the elderly housing... just a guess of course but probably pretty accurate. Either that or they are living in an apartment with one of their parents and are not on the lease but yet still live there...only in MA!
Geoff Burton April 15, 2014 at 10:40 pm
Kathleen I don't get the Massachusetts reference, having said that I think your about right.
century April 15, 2014 at 11:30 pm
Kathleen, your right. As for housing, the less number of homeless, the more grant money the city andRead More state receives for housing. It happens all the time in Pennsylvania. Free loaders like the crackheads mentioned in the story is why people who have legimate disabilities are judged as liars and have to fight for their rights.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

John the reports stated the vehicle was on fire. This was before the crash. Maybe the driver saw hisRead More tractor on fire and had a massive heart attack? Who knows.
John Chrusciel April 14, 2014 at 02:21 pm
Decaturette back in the days before collapsible steering shafts it was a bad idea to wear a seatbeltRead More because during a head on collision the steering shaft would act as a spear and run you through. I never wore a seat belt my old MGA or TR3. However, this is no longer a problem because of modern design and engineering. Some people will hem and haw about being t-boned at an intersection and the harm that a three point harness can do. I personally know many people who have had their lives saved by seat belts. I always wear mine. They should afford children the same opportunity to protect themselves. A 25 mile per hour head on collision with another vehicle travelling at 25 miles per hour is like a 50 mile per hour collision. So I do not buy the argument about shorter distances nor do I buy the article about lower driving speeds. What can is cost to have simple lap belts installed in a school bus? Are we that greedy?
Becky April 14, 2014 at 04:03 pm
I think the real reason they don't install them is that it would raise a whole other level ofRead More liability -- like that then they would have to keep the seatbelts in good working order, and maybe enforce that people wear them. Could I sue them because another passenger flew out of their seat and hit me. Etc, etc.
