Starbucks Will Soon Brew in North Babylon

North Babylon coffee drinkers rejoice; your very own Starbucks is coming soon.

The well-know national coffee shop chain will be opening a new location at the corner of Woods Road and Route 231 next to Wendy’s in the Sunset City shopping center.

A grand opening date has yet to be announced.

According to a Babylon Town spokesperson, permits for the new Starbucks were issued in December and a permit allowing for interior and exterior alterations was approved in late February.

Over the past week the building’s ceilings have been gutted and re-insulated and new sheetrock has been installed. The new coffee shop will be located in a long vacant building that once housed a gas station.

Back in June of 2012, Patch highlighted the vacant building and asked local residents what type of business they would like to see occupy the location. Reader Lou D’Amaro suggested Starbucks, so we guess he’ll be visiting the new location a great deal once it opens.

When opened, the new Starbucks will be located only 1.9 miles from the Starbucks on Deer Park Ave. in Deer Park, and 2.4 miles from the Starbucks at Tanger Outlets, also in Deer Park.

In addition, the North Babylon store will compete for the affection of coffee drinkers with the Dunkin’ Donuts that sits just across Route 231.
