Sandy Further Delays Texas Roadhouse Opening

The Deer Park location is now slated for a start date of summer 2013.

Hurricane Sandy has further delayed construction of Texas Roadhouse in Deer Park, a company spokesperson said Thursday. The opening is now pushed to summer 2013.

"We will not start for another three weeks or so because of Sandy and needing some utility work," Travis Doster, spokesperson for Texas Roadhouse, said. "We will open next summer."

Texas Roadhouse broke ground on Commack Road in May and was slated to open in October. However, the opening was first postponed when contaminated soil was discovered at the site. The clean up process was source of the original delay, Doster said.

He said he did not know the source of the contamination.

When complete, the Deer Park location will be the restaurant's second location on Long Island. The first is in East Meadow.
