Deer Park is about to get a little taste of Texas after months of setbacks and delays due to Hurricane Sandy.

Texas Roadhouse will open its second Long Island restaurant in Deer Park on June 3, said managing partner Tony Martinez. The steakhouse has started hiring staff to prepare for its opening.

Martinez said he is looking to hire approximately 180 employees for the restaurant on Commack Road, split between 50 full-time positions and 130 part-time staff.

Texas Roadhouse has opened up a hiring office in the same shopping center as the restaurant, walk-ins are welcome.

Once open, the Deer Park Texas Roadhouse will be the company’s first location in Suffolk County. Its other Long Island Location is located off Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.

Martinez said that Deer Park is a great spot to bring Texas Roadhouse into.

“There’s no steakhouse in the area and we have the Tanger Outlets right here,” he said. “I’m big into community and I think the Deer Park community needs a business it can partner with.”

The new Deer Park location will have restaurant-style seating for up to 230 diners, with an additional 13 seats available at the bar bringing it up to 243. The steakhouse will focus on serving up dinner, opening hours:  Monday - Thursday, 4 p.m. - 10 p.m; Fridays, 4 p.m. - 11 p.m.; Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.; and Sunday 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

The company’s roots date back nearly 20 years to when Texas Roadhouse opened its first location in Clarksville, Ind. in 1993. Today, the company operates more than 400 locations worldwide, with locations in Dubai and Kuwait.

According to its website, the company touts its hand-cut steaks, side dishes made from scratch and fresh-baked breads. As with most chain restaurants, entertainment is also part of the atmosphere as Texas Roadhouse includes line dancers and a jukebox.
